Until the Violence Stops

The American Islamic Fellowship will continue to speak out about domestic violence and will continue to work towards moving people and communities to action in regards to domestic violence. You can make a difference and just one person is effective in helping and stopping domestic violence. Whether you have, are or have not been a victim of domestic violence, one of the most powerful things you can do to combat domestic violence is to educate yourself.

We have an annual event called Not in Our Name: United Against Domestic Violence in March, but there are resources for you to act year round found on our site.

Today, Melissa Robinson, the director of the American Islamic Fellowship, published an editorial in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to combat the image of domestic violence in regards to religion, specifically in relation to so-called "honor killings". The article can be found at:

If you would like to know more about how to combat domestic violence or need resources for getting out of a domestic violence situation, please feel free to contact us or to contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

Together, we can take the power away from the perpetrators of violence and put power in the hands of those who wish to stop it.
