Thursday, March 18th -- Mehri Dadgar, an Iranian artist now living in Mill Valley, teaches about Islam and Iranian culture at College of Marin. In addition to painting, Mehri is also an award-winning filimmaker. Her short film, "In the Grave", chronicles the 5-year period in which she was imprisoned in Iran for handing out pro-democracy fliers.
Thursday, April 22nd -- Elizabeth Rabia Roberts, a lifelong peace activist, Murshida Rabia engages in citizen diplomacy in Syria, Jordan, Palestine/Israel and most recently Afghanistan. In 1999, she and her husband Elias Amidon, sold their house and began an open-ended pilgrimage of service, teaching and testifying about what they have witnessed around the world in places of conflict.
Thursday, May 6th -- Omid Safi, Professor of Islamic Studies at University of North Carolina and author of a new book called,Memories of Muhammad, Why the Prophet Matters.
In June - Eliyahu Sills and the Qadim Ensemble, musicians who bring together many different streams of middle eastern and north African music into a resonant blend of exotic yet familiar sounds.
