The American Islamic Fellowship began as an outlet for two people who wanted somewhere outside of home to meet at least a couple times a month to discuss spiritual issues without worry of expressing a particular view. It was the belief of the founders that a person was on a journey and the journey would be full of constant growing. In growing, one needed a platform to be oneself and discuss one's spiritual thoughts with others, even if those thoughts might be considered strange, controversial, or just plain wrong by others. Open discussion and active listening was one way the founders believed a person could grow in one's life journey.
It was decided, after much searching, the founders would meet twice a month, even if it was only them for the duration. Soon, however, they both found there were many kindred spirits in their journey. The result has been the opportunity for continual growth in many areas.
